As I sit here writing this, the calming sound of rain dripping in the background echoes outside my window. There is something so peaceful and calming about the rain, yet so many people I talk to extremely dislike it. Now, I grew up with very little rain. I was raised in San Diego and now live in Phoenix, two places with probably the least amount of rainfall in the country, yet I love it.
Most often when those grey skies roll in and it gets cooler, I just want it to rain and just about every time I say I want it to rain, I get some sort of backlash from most people. From "Why do you want it to rain? It's way too wet" to "No get rid of the rain and the cold. The sun and heat are way better."
Now don't get me wrong, it's not like I don't enjoy warm sunny days, but I would rather have rainy ones. There is just something so unique about rainy days. Besides being able to go and jump in puddles and just have some fun, rainy days bring so many other cozy moments.
For all my book nerds out there, being able to sit down with a nice book, a warm blanket, and a cup of tea or coffee with the sound of rain in the background is just about one of the best things to do. Even if you don't like reading, you can't go wrong with a nice cozy day. Also, just because it is raining does NOT, by any means, mean that you can't go outside and do fun things.
I remember one time when I was younger that my mom and I went to Disneyland on one of the few rainy days in Southern California. Let me tell you, it was one of my favorite trips because we were able to go on so many rides because nobody wanted to go to the park in the rain. Seriously though, just throw on a good rain jacket and get some warm drinks and you will have such a fun time.
On top of the coziness and fun that you can have with the rain, the rain itself is just wonderful in and of itself. There is always that moment when you can tell that it is going to rain just when you step outside and get that scent of rain in the air. Now I don't know about you, but if that isn't already a Bath & Body Works candle scent, it should be! It's such a nice clean and fresh scent that just so wonderful to me.
In addition to this, even if you don't like the rain, you gotta admit that it does make stuff look really pretty. I mentioned this before, but just listening to the rain is so soothing, it's basically a natural noise machine to help you sleep. I could listen to the rain for hours, it's such a beautiful sound.
In the end, to everyone who gives me a hard time about loving the rain, I don't care because I've loved, love, and will always love the rain. I won't let your cloud of dislike rain on my parade as I go out and be in the rain! Whether you love rain or sun, just keep on loving whatever you love because it's your life and people not liking the things you like shouldn't get you down!
