For those that have been on their phones and social media recently you have probably heard about the shooting in Parkland, FL that happened yesterday on Valentines Day/Ash Wednesday . While the information about the shooting is still a little fresh, I want to focus on the community and pray for them.
In the cover photo of this article is a few ladies outside of the school crying. The Blonde one having an ash on her forehead from Ash Wednesday. I typically don't harp on my beliefs much in my articles but the ash on her head hit home with me when I saw the picture.
I myself went to the Ash Wednesday service at my church on campus yesterday and for an event like that to happen after I got out of mass, is just hard to picture. I have no other words right now as I am continuing to process exactly what happened and why it happened.
However, I am currently praying for her and the rest of the community in Parkland. I think that we all should pray for Parkland, no matter what we believe. We should pray for their families and for their loved ones. We should always be kind to one another, no matter what. Even if the kind words are simply, "have a nice day", that really can change someone's day.
I want this world to be a nice place for us to live in and for us to not be afraid of events like this happening. I pray that in 2018 that we can make this world a better place and that we can focus on making positive and happy memories with our loved ones. I hope that our society that is currently scrolling through this news on social media doesn't just scroll past the news, but instead focuses on how we can make an impact in this world.
Right now how we can make an impact in this world is praying for Parkland, and being kind to others at school, work, the gym. Being kind is probably one of the best legacies you can leave behind when you leave this Earth.
