My Parents Are Superheroes, True Fact

My mom is not only my best friend but also a superhero. She is the strongest woman that I know. She has always been my role model, ever since I was a little girl. But as I’m getting older and older, her strength amazes me more and more ever year. She has this ability to calm you when you're nervous, to make you better when you’re sick and the ability to make sure that everyone is taken care of before herself.

Having ailing parents is hard for anyone, but with a mother going on year ten with her battle with Alzheimer’s and a father who is approaching 90, it takes a different kind of person to keep up with them. My mom, with the help of my dad takes care of both of them with only some help from an aid. Everyone takes about the disease but rarely do they talk about the care takers, looking after the suffers from the disease. Every caretaker deserves a medal and praise beyond everything, they are the real superheroes. Not only are they taking care of their own family but also for someone who cannot physically care for themselves anymore.

My mom makes sure that my sister and I are taken care of and happy and then she also makes sure that my grandparents are alright as well. People don’t realize how stressful the role of a caretaker is until you are in those shoes. These are the people who deserve the world and deserve free vacations to anywhere and everywhere. I am in awe at my mother and her strength and resilience to this. She does get help from my dad and he is just as strong as her to be able to care for parents that are not his own.

So not only are my parents caring for their own kids, but they are also caring for ailing parents. Not enough is said about caretakers and honestly, they deserve the world. Being a caretaker is almost as hard as being one of the ailing patients. Not only do they have to care for themselves but also for these people that are not capable of caring for themselves. So, remember that next time you see someone who is a caretaker, make sure to ask them how they are feeling and how they are dealing with this. They need help and love too. I love you mom and dad and you two are my superheroes.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
