Dear Mom and Dad,
Wow. 20 years of marriage. That's insane. You guys have been married longer than I've been alive. Thank you both for being the best parents I could ever ask for. You guys are supportive, caring, considerate, chill, and pretty darn cool.
Marriage seems self-explanatory. But these days, a successful marriage is few and far between. My parents make it work and they make it work well. We all have our ups and downs, but my parents have always come out stronger than ever.
Thank you for believing in me, for letting me do whatever I wanted to do. Thank you for pushing me to explore what the world has to offer and supporting my decisions even if they are stupid sometimes.
Thank you for encouraging my hobbies. Thank you for praising me when I needed it and criticizing me when I needed it. Thank you for being understanding.
The real world is a cruel and unforgiving place, where it can be hard for people to care or notice you. Whenever I spend too much time there, I know I can always come home to the refuge my family has created. In my refuge, I know I matter and I can be with people who love me for me. My safe place is with you guys and that will never change.
I'm so grateful for everything you both have done for me and everything you continue to do for me. I could not make my dreams come true without my parents. I'm not very outwardly emotional, so writing about this helps me express my gratitude.
Life is crazy and unpredictable, but I know that my parents will always be my constant. Here's to 20 years of marriage (and to many more).
Love,
Mehar
