Papa D's Bar

Papa D's, Geos, the UG. Many of us have heard of this underground mystery, but few of us have graced this up-and-coming establishment with our presence. Located under Papa D's on the corner of Green and 4th, this place has the prime location of being under the perfect restaurant to fill your late-night food cravings. To learn a bit more about the scene, I interviewed three employees: Morgan, a sophomore in ADPi, Taylor, a sophomore in KD, and Peter, a senior in AKPsi.

Why is Papa D's Bar the best bar on campus?

Taylor: Top bar, top chicken strips.

Morgan: Because you can find us working the corner every Monday through Saturday.

Peter: Let's say your night is coming to an end. You develop a craving for chicken fingers but you still want a few more drinks. You don't have to face this issue at UG. Get the best of both worlds.

What drink deals do you have?

Taylor: $3 jäger bombs, $4 pitchers

Morgan: $2 you call-it's, $1 kamikaze shots

Peter: Cheap bar tricks, free smiles

What do you like about working at the UG?

Taylor: Everyone that works there is freakin' awesome so...

Morgan: TOP CHICKEN STRIPS, TOP STAFF

Peter: The speakers and TV's are currently broken so there are absolutely no distractions from drinking.

What are the best nights to go to Papa D's Bar?

Taylor: Whenever I work ;)

Morgan: Whenever Taylor isn't working.

Peter: Best time of night to go is 9-12 to pregame for low prices. Another good time to go is 12-2 to drink more and get food. So any time between 9-2 each night is the best time to be there.

How would you describe the atmosphere?

Taylor: Danky.

Morgan: Somewhat cleaner than Kams.

Peter: Quaint.

What's your favorite drink to make?

Taylor: One night my friend came in and named a drink I created, so try Strawberry Rain next time you stop by.

Morgan: Moonshine in my dorm room.

Peter: Big Pete's House of Munch (signature drink) - coffee liquor, peppermint schnapps, coke.

If you're not sold on visiting this place, then I don't know what kind of life you're living. Make sure to stop by Papa D's Bar next time you're stumbling down Green Street. Feel free to chat with the bartenders, flirt with the doormen, and eat and drink to your heart's content. And don't forget, TOP BAR, TOP CHICKEN STRIPS.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.
