When You Give A Girl A Pair Of Converse...

She will probably wear them every day and every where for seven years.

When You Give A Girl A Pair Of Converse...

"Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world."
—Marilyn Monroe

I know, it seems silly. What can a pair of shoes do besides for saving your feet from stepping on all the gross junk outside? Besides from supporting your back and other various health benefits, a pair of shoes may dramatically, help you conquer the world.

Most of us have quite a few pairs of shoes. Sandles for the beach, rain boots for the rain, tennis shoes for the gym, dress shoes for work, and the list goes on. Even if you don't have a pair of shoes for each of those, something I think we can all agree on is that each of us does have a certain pair of shoes that are our favorite pair.

Yep, those shoes that just popped into your mind. This pair is the pair that you wear everywhere. They are the ones that have been broken in for as long as you can remember. They are your go-to's.

For me, and I think many my age, my favorite pair is the white Converse that I have had since my freshman year of high school. I've had these shoes for almost seven years!!! During the time I got them you couldn't walk around town without seeing every girl my age wearing the same exact shoes. I just about had to beg my mom to get them for me. Right now, these are still in and are probably most seen at every college darty.

After seven years of wearing these bad boys, they are broken into to the point where I can wear them at just about anywhere. Meaning, these shoes have been everywhere with me. Going on vacation? Gotta pack my Converse. Going to lunch? Converse for sure. Going to class? I'm going to wear my Converse, no doubt.

Sure, these shoes have seen their days. They've got mud on them from the time I thought it would be okay to go on a nature walk. Yeah, I know they are white, but I thought maybe I can step around the mud. Nope, not the case. The laces are falling apart from the number of times I've tied them, and from the times I just let the laces go undone while scurrying to class. The red and blue lines are almost faded out but hey, none of this changes the fact that they are still my favorite pair of shoes.

So what's all the fuss about a pair of shoes? Well, have you ever worn a bad pair of shoes and been completely uncomfortable the entire time? It's the worst! You're cranky the entire time and all you want to do is relax and take your shoes off. It's crazy how sore ankles and blisters can affect your mood. You might even start to feel insecure because of how awkward you have to stand in order to avoid putting pressure on the blister.

All and all, just wear your favorite shoes. And wear them all the time. Appreciate them for always being there when you just need a good pair of shoes. You never know when the next time you'll come across a pair of shoes that mean as much. Thank you to my Converse for the past seven years and many more to come.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
