The PA primary is coming up shortly on May 15th, which means it is that time of year again where people urge you to get out and vote. Primary voting does not always seem as important as, say, the general Presidential election, but this vote decides on some major candidates moving forward for PA.
The primary on May 15th will narrow down the candidates that will be running for each party during the general election in November. During the primary, constituents will be voting for the nominees for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, United States Senate, United State House of Representatives, and State-level Senate and House. They also will be voting on state and local committee people.
If you want a say in your government, vote in the primary. A candidate you love may not run in the general if they do not get enough support now. It shows your support for your party, and you are exercising your right to vote. So many people later complain when the candidate they support is not voted into office, but at the same time, they never voted, whether it be the primary or the general election. If you really have an opinion, show it through your vote.
We are blessed to live in a democracy. Not only do we have so many rights and freedoms, but we should find it our duty to use our right to vote. Because such a small action can create a large change in our state and in our nation. Primary elections are important. They set the path for candidates and constituents. In this time where so many people are unhappy with our country, do the right thing and vote. Because your vote can make a difference.
Polls are open 7 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018. Follow this link to find your precinct in PA, so you are ready to vote!
