They Are Expensive

When in college you are already most likely living on a budget and it would be hard to keep up with their day to day costs, like grooming supplies and litter (for a cat) and food. Also if something bad were to happen to them medically, vet bills could cause a huge blow to your bank account.

You Are On Their Schedule

Your pet can not stay inside all day and never use the bathroom; you have to make sure to feed them and take them outside and care for them and let them get their energy out. They will pee in your room and chew on your furniture if you don't do these things.

It's Hard To Be SpontaneousĀ

In college, people thrive on being spontaneous. Your friends might invite you out to eat but you haven't let your dog out all day so you have to go home and do that before you can do anything else. You might decide to sleepover at someone else's apartment then you are leaving the dog to fend for themselves which isn't fair.

It Limits Where You can LiveĀ

Some apartment complexes won't allow pets and some of the ones that do don't look so great because other people have had their pets there. Also the monthly cost of having a dog in that apartment could be up to $40 a month with a $300 starting fee every year.

They (sometimes) Ruin Your Things

They might be really cute to come home to until you find out they chewed up your new shoes that you spent money on. Also maybe you didn't take them out early enough and they pee on the shirt that you love. This can cause even more money stress because now you have to replace those items.

They have to be trained

There are countless hours that goes into training a dog. If you plan to leave them in a crate while you are at class they need to be trained to be quiet or your roommates will be very mad. Also they need to be potty trained so they don't pee everywhere and ruin your carpet.

They Are A Longterm InvestmentĀ

Dogs and Cats can grow to be very old (depending on the type). What happens after you graduate and you get a job somewhere far away and you now don't have time or space for them? Do you get ride of the dog/cat you have had for 4 years and abandon them?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
