You Are The Owner Of Your Own Happiness

People are temporary, but your happiness doesn't have to be.

I know it’s not easy, but you have to stop doing this to yourself. You continuously keep placing your own happiness on to other people. It’s not healthy. And you will keep getting hurt.

I know you’re already hurt. And I know it’s easier to forgive and forget and to go back to your old ways after a few good cries, but if you don’t change then you will always be dealing with this.

Why waste your time with the same old people doing the same old things if it’s not contributing to your happiness? Better yet, why waste time on people that don’t care about you?

I understand it can be easier to look to others to fill a void rather than trying to confide in yourself. But the main problem, that I’m sure you’re already finding, is that people are temporary. However, you aren't.

Think about your future. Think about what you want out of life. Think about those around you that need you.

If you want to be able to be there for other people you have to be able to be there for yourself.

I know insecurities are tough and self-confidence is hard to build, but I know you are strong and I know you are tough.

You are capable of owning your own happiness. It just takes time and it just takes strength.

The more you place your happiness on other people, the more you will be let down.

Let’s be honest, we are naturally selfish. Therefore, if those around you aren’t going to care how they affect you, then you have to care for yourself!

You are capable of great things on your own, whether you believe it or not. You have the power to be strong and to be the holder of your own happiness.

It is time to realize who truly are. It is time to believe in yourself. And it is time to take control of your life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
