Like some of you who may read this, I’m feeling tired, extremely busy, and overwhelmed at the beginning of the semester. The relaxed and care free vibe of the summer has faded and we are all back to real life, whether we are happy about it or not!
The semester ahead of us is going to be difficult academically. Last semester I lost track of my own health necessities, and I’m writing this to warn you to not do the same.
Balancing a STEM workload at an academically rigorous school like RPI and living in and being an active in a fraternity, with necessary time devoted to social life, eating, sleeping, and breathing is no easy task.
Last semester, feeling stressed and overwhelmed, I stopped exercising, sleeping enough, and properly eating. These things added up and led me in no shape to succeed academically.
I’m much more focused this semester towards overall health, and it’s helped in many aspects of my life. This decision to be healthier naturally has helped with my motivation in other branches of my life.
Remind yourself of the importance of health to your overall being, it’s paid off for me and I believe it will for you as well.
