Epic Games had players anxiously awaiting the arrival of Fortnite Chapter 2 for two whole days. During its absence, players were only left with the black hole that erased the whole map and the whole game. People dubbed this the "blackout". On October 15, Fortnite finally returned to us with a whole new map and a couple of new features.
Hope you know how to swim.
As predicted considering the previous map got sucked into a black hole, Fortnite Chapter 2 introduced a whole new map. Included in this new map is water, lots of water. Throughout the map, you will see rivers and waterfalls which you will have to learn to adapt to if you want to win games. Along with this new addition comes the art of fishing. Fishing rods are usually found around the docks. Players are now able to go through an Animal Crossing-like mini-game with their rods to catch fish, which provide health, building materials, guns, ammo, and even rusty cans that deal small amounts of damage. To get around the map more easily, boats are now available for use. They even have a missile attached.
New points of interest.
New map, new POIs. The thing about this chapter though is that until you discover a new location, every time you open your map, all you will see is a big grayed-out area. Added to this season as well are landmarks that are also grayed out until they are discovered. It gets your sense of adventure really pumping.
Teamwork makes the dream work.
A medic role can now technically be assigned in Fortnite. Added to the game is a new weapon called the Bandage Bazooka. The weapon allows players to fire healing bandages at your teammates or yourself to patch up while under fire or recovering from a recent skirmish. What makes this weapon really special is that it recharges after each use, but the downside is it takes up two weapon slots, which is a pretty fair trade-off. If need be, you can now carry your fallen teammates to bring them to safety so they are not quickly eliminated, which is just a fun addition to the game.
Let's talk about mechanics.
Players can now hide in haystacks and dumpsters instead of just throwing on a bush like last season. Workbenches can be found scattered across the map allowing players to use the resources they earned at the bench to upgrade their weapons
That's a lot of XP.
In this season of Fortnite, it is now a lot easier to level up and earn XP. You can earn medals by doing things like searching chests, eliminating opponents, and completing challenges.
If there ever was a time you've been thinking about trying Fortnite, I would recommend this season to start. For making everyone wait two days for this update to drop, I'd have to say it was worth it.
