Our Police Are Our Protectors

Retaliation against officers will divide our country.

Our Police Are Our Protectors

Three police officers were recently gunned down in Louisiana. These were the same police officers that were in the same police force as the man that was caught brutally killing an African American male on camera. While this death was gruesome, there has been a retaliation against police officers since this incident.

However, this video of the police officer is a bad representation of the officers in our country. They protect us, and the retaliation against them is frankly unnecessary and a profile against cops. While we should propose laws about the responsibility of a police officer behind a weapon, causing a massive divide between officer and citizen will only divide us as a country. We tend to still up against racist profiling cases against Hispanics, Blacks, and Muslims, but I truly believe that officers need to be added to the list. Because just like this group of people, they were badly represented on media and as a result, they have this injustice every day.

This image of a "bad cop" was originally brought up in urban areas, where the incarceration of black males occurred often. These police officers chose to go against the citizens of these areas instead of our protectors. And it was just recently that this image of a cop was brought to light.

Cops in these areas should predominately be their protectors from crime and unsafe plots. Laws should be enforced about how cops use their power behind a weapon, but I also believe that they should not be retaliated against for these stories. They protect us, that is their job and their duty.

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
