"The rule of law is the strength of our democracy and no one is above it - not our neighbors. not our coworkers, and not the President of the United States" was the opening statement of U.S. Representative of Florida Val Demings, an African American woman and former law enforcement official, for the House Judiciary Committee's Impeachment Inquiry.
Today's hearing by Val Demings was emphasizing the lack of cooperation from the current President of the United States. Regardless of position, our democracy was designed so that no one could overthrow the rule of law. There is an embedded systematic process of checks and balances from three branches which are the legislative, judicial, and executive. These branches are not listed in order of power because it simply does not exist.
To abuse one branch's power to prove a point by shutting down the White House countless times leads to more harm than good. There are people with government jobs, and then there are people who are in life-threatening situations that are in need of further governing. To completely absolve one's self from the strength of democracy will only hinder one's own fate. Like any other judiciary system, there is an end ruling with justifiable reprimanding consequences. Furthermore, at the end of a court hearing there sometimes is a new law that is passed along with the end ruling in order to prevent future implications.
As a country, we can all say it's been quite a year of upheaval. On the contrary, there's been plenty of room for requisition. This is exactly why an impeachment inquiry has been released in the first place. Throughout the impeachment hearings, it has been revealed that the current President of the United States has been dishonest about the taxes from an estate that's self-owned. Exemplifying oneself as the current President of the United States is an obstruction to justice. On the other hand, if the current President of the United States had no reason to be considered guilty of any illegal activity then for the good of the people there should be no need to blockade the governing of this country. Overall, it would be better for everyone involved in the impeachment inquiry if the current President of the United States would face the wrath of uncertainty with diligence and grace regardless of the fate of the ultimate ruling.
Impeachment or not, here we come!
