Don't Worry About Others

It's funny how we are always so worried about what other people think. It's like ever since we were kids it was ingrained in our heads to do or not do certain things because of what other people might think of us. It's like when you're a teenager and you go along with everyone else because you're scared to stand out because there's always a mean peer that'll make fun of you for it. So we just go along with what everyone else is doing because that's what we think we should do.

As we get older, though, we see other people breaking out of what it is to go along with the crowd or to stick with the norm, especially these days. So many people just forge their own paths and some are incredibly successful, while others are not. Either way, it's more about the courage they have to do that to begin with. The thing that these people learn sooner than most other people in their lives and around them is the biggest truth and the biggest game changer: everyone is so caught up in themselves and their own lives that they aren't paying attention to you, so do what you want to do anyway.

Don't take that in a negative space where it sounds like no one cares what you do or about you. It simply means that everyone is so caught up in their own lives and what they have going on day to day and focusing on their own business that they aren't paying as much attention to you as you think they are. They're thinking about what others think of them rather than taking the time to judge and critique every little thing you do. They don't have the capacity to focus on you because they're so focused on themselves. In today's world, everyone is a little bit self-centered. Everyone is trying to figure themselves out. So focus on figuring yourself out because to be honest, that's all anybody is trying to do.

Don't worry about what other think or will say. If they take the time out of their own day to bring you down then it really says more about their own insecurities and their personality that it does about you. It shows that they aren't confident enough in themselves and have to take the time to bring you down to feel good. And if someone is doing that, that's just sad.

So with that, go do what makes your heart happy. Go be yourself and work hard towards your dreams. Make sure that you're not stepping on others to get to where you want to be and keep focusing on you. Don't worry about what other people think because they aren't even really paying that much attention.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
