Christmas trees are definitely the center of attention at all holiday gatherings. Not only are they the physical focal point of most rooms, but every tree tells a different story about the family that lives there. Some people like to decorate trees to follow a certain color scheme or ornament theme, while others have trees that look like one big arts and crafts project.
Regardless of how you decorate your tree, many people have ornaments that mean something special to them and represent their personality in a festive way. A great conversation starter, here are 10 ornaments you can find on everyone's tree.
1. Pre-K Arts & Crafts
I can say with great confidence that at least half of the ornaments on my tree at home consist of Pre-K art projects. A finger-painted star, a Santa made out of a hand print, and a simple popsicle stick picture frame come to mind. They're super sentimental, but take up lots of space on the tree after a while.
2. Grade School Arts & Crafts
Similar to the ornaments above, the grade school art class ornaments cannot go unrecognized. These look a little more festive because they have become more complex. By this point, we have graduated from the popsicle sticks and stickers to plastic bulbs and hot glue guns. Just as special -- but a little neater.
3. School Ornaments
If you have a Christmas tree, there is definitely a few ornaments dedicated to the beloved Alma Mater. Gotta rep the school spirit all year 'round.
4. Santa's Lap
Luna Legend is no stranger to this one. Every year as kids, my parents would get a new ornament of me and my siblings with Santa. They are super fun to look at now and see how we have grown up, as well as how our relationship with Santa grew to be more accepting.
5. The Singing Ones
Christmas related or not, singing ornaments are very popular. They're great when it comes to entertaining little kids, just don't show them where the button is unless you want Elsa to sing the chorus of "Let It Go" for hours on end.
6. Vacation Memories
Whenever my family goes on vacation, my parents always make a point to buy a new ornament for our tree to remind us of our trip. Ornaments are great souvenirs because not only do they add a certain flair to the tree, but they also serve as a reminder of fun times spent with loved ones.
7. "My/Our/Baby's First Christmas"
The Christmas tree is a very popular place to display all the "firsts" in your life. First Christmas with your S/O, baby's first Christmas, first Christmas with your dog, all these things are important.
8. Random Foods
I honestly have no explanation for why everyone has food ornaments. Maybe they're your favorite foods? Gag gifts? Thought they would look good on the tree? I guess all of those reasons are probable.
9. Favorite Celebrities & Athletes
Quite the festive way to show your team pride or boast about your favorite singer. They are a great conversation starter, but beware of team rivalries and potential disagreement.
10. Gag Gift Ornaments
Jokes about your profession, dad jokes, and emojis all fall into the category of gag gift ornaments. The ornaments that no one seems to necessarily want but everyone has. Even the strangest ornaments can hold a special significance. No matter how you choose to decorate your tree, people will always stop and stare.
