I love Thanksgiving and I truly get so sad when I see people have their Christmas trees/decorations up before Thanksgiving even happens. I honestly don't understand why some people hate Thanksgiving? It's an excuse to be lazy and eat food all day! How is that a bad thing?
In this list, I am going to express my love for Thanksgiving and hope to get some of you on the Thanksgiving love train as well.
The food
Well obviously I am going to start with the food. If you don't like something, I am sure that there is something else to eat. That's the beauty of Thanksgiving. There's got to be something on the table that you will like because there is just so much food! Maybe turkey isn't your jam (it's not mine either) but mashed potatoes, ham, roast beef, even chicken are all on the table. I think that we underestimate how good Thanksgiving food is and that there is always something for everyone.
The family
No matter what relationship you have with your family, it's nice to be together and enjoy time together. As you grow up, it is harder to find time to see all of your family at once and I think that Thanksgiving is a great way for everyone to get together and enjoy the company. Thanksgiving dinners are fun! It's where the best jokes, the cutest memory flashbacks, and the awkward questions happen that make for good stories later.
The games
i don't know about your family, but my family and I always play a fun round of Uno after Thanksgiving Dinner. It's fun and heated and we all get very competitive. I think we one time played Uno till 11 p.m and it was the best Uno game in the history of Uno games.
The Desserts
I love pie and I love a good pumpkin or pecan pie after my Thanksgiving meal. Maybe pie isn't your jam, but I am sure that there other things to eat like fruit or even ice cream. I know we also always have ice cream too. I think Thanksgiving dessert is the best part of the night because well, it's the one time that you won't feel guilty while eating dessert.
The cheesy Christmas movie/football
Now I personally don't watch football on Thanksgiving but I do try to get my family to watch a cheesy Christmas movie to get in the spirit. My family also ends up contemplating going bowling, but we never do because we are all tired and want to be couch potatoes. The movie brings us all together and we pop some popcorn and enjoy the end of the fun Thanksgiving day.
Even if all the things I listed above still doesn't make you love Thanksgiving, I hope that you try to at least have an open mind next Thursday. Thanksgiving is just as fun as Christmas even if there are no gifts involved.
