To my future kiddos,

I hope you know how excited I am to be your teacher. I've worked hard and long to be able to teach you; it's my dream come true.

I am so excited to watch you grow as a person and as a student. I can't wait to watch you enjoy learning. I can't wait to see the light bulbs go off in your heads when you understand a concept. I promise I will make learning fun for you. I will make every day enjoyable.

I may never know what is going on at home or outside of the classroom, but the eight hours you spend with me, I promise you will always feel safe and secure with me as your teacher.

I am here for you and your academic challenges, but I am also here for you as a mentor and someone you can talk to for advice. I will be your advocate. I will never judge you and will always be by your side when you're feeling down.

You are going to face challenges; you are going to get down on yourself. I hope you are not afraid to make mistakes. I want you to make mistakes because that is how you learn. Raise your hands. Ask questions. Don't be afraid to tell me you don't understand. I promise I will never make you feel stupid when you don't understand and we will work through it together.

I have been a student before, too. I know what it's like to be totally lost and feeling embarrassed when I ask a "stupid" question. There is no such thing as a stupid question in my classroom.

I hope you know, no matter what your peers or others say, I believe in you and I will never give up on you. I will do everything in my power to make sure you are getting the best instruction possible. It is impossible to be perfect. I am not perfect and you are not perfect, nor do I ever expect you to be. All I ask of you is that you give 100% to everything you do in my classroom. I will be your biggest supporter because I know you can do it.

I promise to see the positives in you, even during the days you talk a little bit too much or are feeling unmotivated. I know that each of you has special qualities that make you who you are and I will encourage you to embrace those qualities all the time.

I can't wait to meet each and every one of your wonderful faces some day. We are going to have a great school year together. Here's to a special year together!

Much love,

Your future teacher

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
