Dear Childhood Best Friend,
Today I wanted to write a letter to you to tell you how much I appreciate you. You have been through it all with me: the Webkinz obsession, the awkward phase, middle school, high school, and you're there for me now. It was easy to make friends where you were 8 years old, but those friendships either faded before or after high school. Not you though, you have shown what kind of friend you are and I can't thank you enough for being the best friend I could ever ask for.
Thank you for being the most selfless person and always being there when I need to vent about something. Even being apart at college doesn't change a thing in our friendship because whenever we see each other again, we pick right up from where we left off. There are so many things that we have already done in these past twelve years, but there are so many things that we have not even embarked on yet. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us.
We have more than a decade's work of memories, memories that have made my childhood one to be jealous of. We didn't have iPads, iPhones, or Netflix to keep up occupied, so we created our own fun. We would make forts out of blankets, sheets, and chairs, we would play soccer for hours, and most importantly we laughed about anything and everything for no reason. We had and still have fun doing nothing just because we are with each other. Not having technology the way kids have now-a-days managed to make a friendship that has endured.
With each passing year, our friendship only grows stronger. It still amazes me that after all this time, we are still the best of friends. Many friendships fade by going to different high schools, people changing, etc. Well, we went to different high schools and we are still as close as we were in the eighth grade. Despite the vast changes that we have both been through, our friendship has not struggled.
When we graduated high school and went on to start our next chapter in our lives, I knew that wouldn't be it for our friendships. Even though we both have new friends, and we don't talk every single day, I know you're still there for me, just like you always have been. We see each other less and less during the school year, but that just makes every visit that much better.
So, to my childhood best friend, thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for me, and everything you will do for me. It's been an amazing ride and we turned out pretty great, if I do say so myself. You're more than a friend, you're my sister. I love you and I want to know how proud of the woman that you have become. I want you to know that even though we don't talk every day, you are still and will always be my number one girl.
