As someone who cannot wait to go back to Towson this fall, I figured I would make a tribute to my home away from home. I am going to be honest, Towson was not my No. 1 school, but I wouldn't trade my first year at Towson for anything in the world, nor would I trade these next few years to come.
As someone who is from out of state, I will say that Maryland is different, and all that state pride can be (and is) overwhelming. But, I love it. I love being so close to the Inner Harbor, but also not too too far from home. There is never a dull moment. On top of all of that, it's home to my favorite place in the whole world Towson University.
Where do I even begin? The campus is absolutely stunning, with a combination of buildings both new and old. Despite there being over 20,000 kids, there is never not a familiar face around, no matter where you are. The campus is big enough that you don't feel trapped, but also small enough that is not too overwhelming. And the blend of hills and stairs gives me a killer workout.
But, more than that. The people are awesome. Everyone is so different that it is actually interesting. You don't get bored from talking to clone after clone after clone. I am in a friend group of six girls, and we all are completely different, but it works. The diversity on campus allows you to learn so much more about the world, far more than we can learn within the walls of the CLA.
Despite not being one of the larger state schools, there is never NOT something to do. From weekend activities on campus, to stumbling uptown or taking a cab to your favorite frat. I can promise you that you will never be bored.
We all have our favorite things about Towson. Whether it's the people or the area or the Jamba Juice (yum!). I think we can all agree that we are thankful for these four short years (or more).
So, thank you, Towson, for making leaving home a lot less hard.
Love,
Your Students
