To The Girls That Look Up To Me, You Don't Have To Prove Anything To Anyone

Just some extra advice that wasn't preached to you by your mother, or weird aunt.

Hey Y'all!

I know it's been a long time since we've seen each other. I see your Snapchats and your posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and every other social media outlet we share. I see that you girls are no longer the young girls I have come to know. No, you are more than that.

You're growing up into smart and mature, or soon to be mature, young ladies. It's crazy! I feel like that aunt you haven't seen in years and the first thing that comes out my mouth is "Wow! You've grown so much!" Ugh. Honestly, I never wanted to be that person, but hey! Sometimes we grow up be someone we never imagined becoming.

I know you're probably thinking "I know, lol", or thinking that you don't want to hear another person preach the same information that you already know. Maybe you don't really care but, unlike those other people that are going to pound it into your head, like too much spur to the side you're going to get numb, so I'm only going to say these few things once.

"Do your best, never give up. Always try, try, and try again"

Seriously. Whatever it is, whether it's school, or a sport, or your job, take advantage and use every effort you can to ensure that what is it you're doing now will only benefit your future. They'll ask you 'where do you see yourself in 5 years?', tell them your 10-year goal plan. You're going to face so many issues. I'm just keeping it a buck, you're going to fail.

You're not always going to get what you want, your vision is constantly changing. Don't get mad that the vision isn't the same. I want you to take the same energy, and make a new vision. Re-route yourself. You don't have to prove anything to anyone, except yourself.

"Guys. Suck."

Let's keep this part short and sweet (like me!) As women, we constantly see men in our lives and we hope they stay in our lives forever. So the whole "if you can't imagine a life with them, they're not the one." Well, you can forget that because let's face it, we imagine a future with almost every guy.

I wouldn't really worry about taking guys seriously until college. Why? Because guys, suck! Boom done with that. If you really wanna talk guys with me on a deeper note then shoot me a message.

And lastly,

"Be Yourself."

There are a lot of trends that we all follow. You should have your hair look like this, your body should look like this, and makeup on fleek. There are so many platforms that tell us what is it that we should do to remain desirable and or appealing.

Or maybe you see other girls that grab and hold the attention of others and you want to be like that. I say "forget that." Being your own person, doing your own thing and setting and achieving goals is more interesting to an outside party than doing what everyone else is doing. Your vibe will attract your tribe, and those few friends are all you need.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
