Open Letter To High School Seniors

The end of an era!!!!

Finally, senior year has come and it is your turn to rule the school. Although the future holds another world of excitement, don't get lost in what is to come and instead relish in one of the most amazing years of your life.

Enjoy every minute of this year before your life changes forever. Every teacher you hate, every piece of homework you don't want to do, every spirit day and senior event, the parties, the weekends without parties— enjoy it all. Because literally in the blink of an eye, it will all be behind you.

Don’t wish it away. College will inevitably come even if you don’t count down the days, but you will never get back your senior year of high school.

Work hard but not too hard. Take it from someone who hardly graduated because senioritis hit them so badly, the essence of the “disease” is to eliminate stress, but struggling to graduate can get pretty stressful.

Go out every night. Everything at this point will all be just a memory soon and you don't want to miss a thing because one night you were too tired or didn’t feel like it. A huge, open house party at a random kids house usually makes for the best stories. A themed party at your best friend’s house with just your grade will be your favorite party of the year. A girls night in with wine, food, music, and your best friends are the nights that will make you miss high school when you move onto college.

Be open to new things. Maybe it’s a new level of maturity or a mutual nostalgia, but senior year everyone becomes friends with everyone. Do not be the person that limits themselves because they are too ingrained in their own clique.

Love your friends even when you hate your friends. There’s seldom a conflict that 10+ years of friendship can’t resolve. Despite how annoyed you can become with your friends, don’t let it take over your senior year. Don’t lose friends, don’t be petty with friends, just love the people who have shaped your childhood and adolescence because who knows what the year after this will bring. Besides, senior year is nothing without your best friends by your side.

Without getting too emotional, grasp the concept that soon everything will change and although you might not see it now, you will miss how things were. In light of that, make this year your best because it is one you will never forget.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
