Dear Me,

CALM DOWN. IT’S JUST A TEST. If you break it down you are actually having mental breakdowns over a splash of ink on a piece of tree, and that sounds pretty dumb, doesn’t it? You studied didn’t you? You went through an entire semester learning this stuff, didn’t you? So what is the issue? You need to relax.

Relaxing seems better said than done I know, but just stop and clear your head. You are wording at too many thoughts a minute and the first step to calming down is to stop working so fast. Now that you’ve done that, let's move slow. These questions are nothing, in all honesty it’s all broken down it: you either know it or you don’t. That is the most comforting thing I can tell you about the test itself because yeah it might be hard, and yeah you might be tired, but you can’t un-know things so whatever information you retained, it will stay with you throughout this entire test and you will nail every single question that gets thrown to you. You are like a big brain of knowledge that will pass every single one of your classes because damn, you’re smart. Now stop being paranoid, stop changing answers to avoid 5 C’s in row, they are all correct answers, they just all so happen to be C. Stop looking at the clock, time is slow and it will make you upset. Stop looking at everyone around you: why do you care if they get done before you? Take a minute to compose yourself and now only focus on yourself. Nothing else in this room can give you answers. No one stapled a cheat sheet on the wall for you and the professor will not give you any answers no matter how many times you look at him with your tired, sad eyes hoping he will feel bad for you. Only one person is going to pass this test for you, and that’s you…who is also me. If I/You have to be a drill sergeant so you/me will stop going into panic mode and focusing on everything else but the test, then I/You will do it, no problem. I mean I figure it can kind of go without saying but I’ll mention anyway that we have to pass this final, it is 50% of your grade and we need every little bit of that we can, ya feel me? Now that I have you focused and calmed down I can tell you with full confidence that you got this. You are going to ace this and when you get that grade you are gonna feel so dumb when you think about how hard you stressed it.

Keep on keeping on,

-You

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
