An Open Letter To My Best Friend's Boyfriend

I have several things to thank you for.

We technically haven't met yet, but I've seen a lot of your Facebook activity on her page, and I've heard a lot about you from her, so I feel like I know you already. I am so grateful that you are in her life. With that, I have several things to thank you for.

Taking Care of Her

Thank you for taking care of her and being there for her when I cannot. We go way back to our early high school years, back when I was the new kid and knew no one at our school. She wasn't my first friend, but she was my first close friend, although that didn't happen until around our sophomore and junior year. Over the years, we became really close, and I experienced a loyalty that I didn't have before in some of my friends back at home. Life sucked being the new kid.

Speaking of moving, the first time she saw me cry was on move in day at LSU our freshman year. I ugly cried, because I helped someone so close to me move in at a school that I wasn't going to. I was used to seeing her almost every day, until that point. To me, she was (and still is) one of those friends who needed the extra love and support from someone due to people and their past actions, along with her anxiety. After move in day, I prayed that she would be happy and adjust well to the new set up. I wanted everything to go well for her. Getting re-established isn't easy. I am still here for her, of course. It isn't as much as I want it to be, but thank God for social media. Thank you for taking care of her when I am too far away for most of the year.

For Loving Her

Thank you for loving her, and giving her your heart. I've seen my own share of crappy relationships in my past, but I have also seen it in hers. I'm so happy that she found you, because you don't play with her feelings, or do other disgusting things. I'll never forget the pain from having a guy taken from her by another girl. I hated seeing her in pain. At least this time I know she has your heart, because you actually gave it to her.

For Making Her Happy

I am so happy to see her happy. I especially want to thank you for that. I feel like this is the happiest she's been in a while. It always brings a smile to my face when I see you guys tag each other in Facebook photos and posts. I can't wait for the day I can go on a double date with you guys. I'd love to see you guys have a future together. I look forward to hearing more from her about you and her excitement. I'm so happy that you found her.

I can't wait to actually meet you, because you're the person that makes her so happy. I hope you won't think that this is too strange for me to write this, but I just had to show my appreciation. You've done so much for her in a short amount of time. I hope you will keep it up. If not, however, I have a talent of finding people...don't make me use it. I don't think I'll need to, though. I'm so happy for you guys, and I love you both.

With Love,

Ali

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
