Dear Hesitant Ones to Indulge in Self-Care Day,

In the beginning, I didn't think there was such a thing to be considered: dedicating an entire day to taking care of myself.

With the help of some people who partook in this weekly, I quickly understood what it meant to, 'self-care.'

The general idea of 'self-care' is to do specific things that relax you or evoke positive emotions within you. For example, if you really enjoy drawing, that could be the day you take up a new sketch or finish one you started. If you find joy in reading, this is your time to delve into a new title or even ask friends which ones they recommend.

Self-care doesn't have to be complicated or make sense to anyone else. As long as it makes sense to you, nothing else matters. It is, in fact, a day for yourself.

You'll see many people calling it, 'self-care Sunday.' It should be noted that Sunday isn't the only day self-care needs to occur; there's no rulebook that says you have to take a breather on this particular day.

There seem to be a lot of people that I speak with who find it easier to call Sunday their day. However, everyone's schedule will differ and time for yourself is chosen at your very own discretion. I take my self-care days on Sunday because my work schedule leaves little time else during the week to do so.

The important idea behind this article is to reassure those who may have wanted to take a self-care day to simply go for it!

One of the main reasons we may get burnt out is because we do a million different things in the span of a day or even a week. Your world will still spin if you take 24 hours to do other, more relaxing things or even nothing at all. Trust me: many of my self-care Sundays have been spent napping!

From turning off/silencing your phone to enjoying a day indoors or outdoors, none is set to a standard on what is considered self-care for you. Even if the classic bubble bath is your idea of taking care of yourself, may you find positive emotions to get you through another week.

Stay relaxed!

Jessica

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
