An Open Letter To Those Going Through A Transition

Dear Human,

If you are like me, then it is sometimes difficult to deal with transitions. Change can be daunting. It brings you out of your comfort bubble that you have worked so hard to build up around yourself. Whether you are moving locations, changing jobs, graduating, ending a semester or moving on to a new chapter in your life, the transition may feel as though you are being transplanted out of your own body into an unfamiliar place.

Moving forward can mean saying goodbye to more than a place or person. It is saying goodbye to a way of life, a particular schedule and the space connected with your memories. This is even true for the smaller changes we experience daily, but the bigger the change the more it may impact your overall sense of balance.

Although whatever transition you are currently facing right now might be irksome to deal with, there is a bright side. Developing ways to adapt to new situations will prove to be a useful skill in every aspect of your life. Believe it or not, change actually creates new neural pathways in the brain!

And so, I leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

"Life has many bad (and good) chapters. One bad chapter doesn't mean it's the end of the book."

Love,

Julie

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
