To My First College Roommates, Thank You
Hannah Johnson

When I moved into Room 4221 I had no idea what I was in for but I was excited about the new opportunity. I had just been notified that my room change request was granted and I was super excited but also nervous. Who would these three girls be? Would they like me? Would we get along? Or would we all despise each other? Would I feel like an outsider having been the last to move in at three weeks later? Would there be room for me in their friendships? Would we be lifelong friends? So many questions went through my mind about my soon to be roommates.

Dear roommates, You three are some of the best people I have met. You all are such smart, strong, and funny women. I hope you all realize that. I hope every day you wake up knowing how awesome you are and how happy I am to be friends with such great people. I hope you all chase your dreams and realize how much you can accomplish. I pray that God watches over you. That He protects and watches over you throughout college. I pray that He brings good people into your life like how He brought all of you into mine.

You all leave me in stitches. Even when I’ve just woken up and can barely manage to make a full sentence somehow you still have me giggling at all of your craziness. You guys keep me on my toes. I never know when there will be rocks in the tub or when the next poster of Nikki is going to pop up. You're funny even when you're not. Thanks for the constant jokes and weird things that happen, you all leave me with stories to tell when I go home. Even as I’m writing this you're making me giggle at nothing really.

Thank you for telling me to go to class cause you know I need to even though I don't want to.

Thanks for being there to really tell me how my outfit looks.

Thanks for making sure I don't go out in the cold in shorts, I would if it weren't for y'all.

Thank you for laughing even when I’m not that funny.

Thank you for the endless support and advice, I couldn't make it through college without it.

Thank you for including me in your lives and making me feel needed and wanted.

Thank you for not minding when I eat your pizza rolls and forget to tell you.

Thanks for taking the time to make Walmart trips or to eat lunch with me. I really appreciate.

Thank you for bringing endless laughter into my life.

Thanks for making sure to remind me about room checks, I forget easily.

Thank you for listening to go on and on about my boyfriend, it really helps me not miss him as much.

There are so many more things I feel the need to thank you guys for this is only a few I can name. Thank you for everything you all do. None of it goes unappreciated. I hope we continue to be friends throughout life. I hope we all are important enough in each other lives to be bridesmaids at each other's weddings. I don't know what I’m going to do without y'all as my roommates next year. I love you guys.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
