To The Woman Who Taught Me To Love Music

You helped me more than you'll ever know.

To The Woman Who Taught Me To Love Music
Annika Soderfelt

Dear Yellow Brick Road,

I don't know how you did it, but you ignited a fire in me that burns bright to this day. I'll never forget the moment we met. I was so nervous to work with a professional singer, and I tentatively admitted that I was not good at high notes. Now you send me flying up to a high c, and we still laugh at your screaming "Pippi long stocking" in the middle of the lesson.

But, more than teaching me to sing, you've helped me grow into the young woman I'm becoming today. You've watched me grow for 8 years, and you've helped me through boy trouble, girl drama, theatre nightmares, and general step, and I don't think I'd have made it without you. You've taught me to use music as a way to express myself and communicate with those around me in a way that has, at times, brought me tears. You've been with me through the shows I wasn't cast in to the hills being alive, and you were always there to cheer me on when I soared and pick me up when I fell. The more I think about it, the more I realize that it was a series of coincidences that brought you into my life, and I couldn't thank God more that it happened.

I could type on and on about how amazing you are and absolutely perfect inside and out, but, the thing is, words will never be able to express exactly how much you mean to me, and how much I love you. You've been another mother to me, and I can't even count the number of times that your hugs kept me going. You gave me the gift of song, and I am so eternally grateful because that is something that will forever keep us together. No matter what happens in my life, you, like music, are there to be a guiding force and to keep me driving forward.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I just can't find the words to truly express how much you mean to me and how much you've changed my life for the better.

I love you forever and always,

Your Susan---->Maria

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
