It just means you have a heart of gold.

All throughout your life you have always cared about things and people more than you probably would have liked to. But you cannot help that you are too much, as that is just how you are. You have always been told that you care too much about almost everything. At the time these comments might have seemed as though they were insults, but in all reality, it should have been taken as a compliment because it is better to care about things rather than to not care at all.

In these moments you have wished that you could shut off your emotions for once, but it always seemed impossible to do that. You cannot just stop your brain and your heart when things get to be too much for you, no matter how much you wished that you could. That is just life. Yes, at times it would be nice to feel neutral about hardships that people are dealing with or about worldwide events, but that never seems to happen. You cannot change your personality or shut off your emotions whenever you would like, and you should not want to! Those who care infinitely for things other than themselves are a blessing to the world and to the people inhabiting it.

A majority of your friends, family, and acquaintances have always told you that you think about things way too much and that there were much better things that you could have been doing with your time instead. But you never listened to their opinions, as you have never believed that thinking about others or events was unimportant. God has made everything, so why would you not want acknowledge what he had created? It would be a waste if you did not.

Have you ever thought about how the world would look if you were not a part of it? Would it still have that golden tint in its dreary day? Would it still have the occurrence of making a stranger's day by putting a smile on your face? It could... or it could not. Would you really want to dull your sparkle by hiding who you really are from the world? You should not. God has made you this way for a specific reason, so you should not be ashamed to put the traits that were given to you to work.

You should continue to use your heart and it's passion to acknowledge all of the aspects that the world has to offer, because all of them are in need of your attention and care. If you are not going to care about things, then who will take your place? The answer is no one because you are unique and your personality and love for others cannot be duplicated by anyone else. So the next time that someone says that you care too much or that you take things to heart too easy, take it as a compliment. Don't let the dark and hate overcome the fire and love that you have inside of you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
