An open letter to my soul sister
Ashton Beals

Dear soul sister,

First off let me tell you how incredibly blessed I am to have you. According to Meredith Grey you are my person and will always be my person. You're the person I'd call to help drag the corpse across the floor if I murdered someone. You're the person that has seen me at my worst and still loved me, and my God I am so thankful for you.

They say you meet some of your best friends in college. They are right. Though I was only there one year, meeting you was the best thing in the world. I've seen so many amazing things in life because of you. You've opened my eyes and now and I thank you for that.

Thank you for bringing me closer to Christ

In college I drifted away from my faith. Why? I don't know. I don't think I'll ever know why. But I was distanced from my faith, and even my family. But then I met you. Your love for faith and for christ has been absolutely incredible. You trust in God to guide you where you're needed and I honestly love that. You radiate such positive energy in my life and I love you for that.

Thank you for your love for life

One thing that we have in common is that you love life and love adventure. Anytime we're together we always start to plan our next adventure. Whether I go to Williamsburg or you come to Richmond. All you need is your camera, some sunglasses and you're set! I love that one day you're here and then the next you're in South Carolina. You move so quickly and your love for adventure has opened my eyes and made me want to come and explore too!

Thank you for sharing your love for pictures/selfies

If anyone knows me well they know I love taking photos. More importantly selfies. Thank you my dear sweet friend for always sharing your love of photos with me. And more importantly sharing my love for selfies! Everytime I see you we always selfie! You love photography and the photos you take somehow seem to tell a story. You have an eye for pictures, and fashion ;).

Thank you for your strength

You have been through more than most people I know. Leaving you to be one of the most strongest people I have ever known. You've dealt with trials, that would often make people want to give up. Not the case for you. Your strength is fearless, and you trust in God to guide you and make you stronger. You're a fighter... You're a survivor. I've dealt with a lot in my life but watching you and being around you shows that you can literally overcome anything God throws at you. I love you so much for that and I'm so grateful to have you in my life.

You are my person. You're the Meredith to my Cristina, the Rachel to my Monica and the Thelma to my Louise. Meeting you was the best thing that could've happened in my life. You've changed my life drastically and I'm forever grateful that I know you. Your story is empowering and your love for life thrives in you. Thank you for being my person through all my trials in life and for sticking by me through thick and thin. I love you twin!

Love always,

Me

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
