An Open Letter to My Froomie(s)

Dearest Froomie(s),

As the school year ends and summer begins, I can't help but become both anxious and excited about the adventures that will be beginning for us starting in August. Even though we still don't know how we are going to fully decorate our future home, or who is going to actually cook something other than Easy Mac, I know we will be set in August when Syllabus week rolls in. I can't help but hope for these things in the year to come when I call you beautiful ladies my roommates:

1. I hope that if I ever ask if I should text that boy back you remind me not to be too clingy.

2. I hope if my outfit is ugly, or the boy has an ugly personality, you warn me... nicely.

3. I hope that if I can't find my sticky boobs when I need to wear that backless dress you let me borrow yours.

4. I hope I share my stuff with you as well and you call me out if I'm mooching too much off of yall's belongings.

5. I hope you still love me even after you notice how grumpy I can be in the mornings. I also hope you remember not to talk to me till I get my coffee.

6. I hope we can all be best friends and encourage each other when we most need it.

7. I hope we share roomie meals from time to time.

8. I hope we learn how to talk about our problems... even if some aren't actual problems.

9. I hope we come up with a cute name for our home aka the future location of all our pictures.

10. I hope we can one day actually get a cute picture.

11. I hope we learn from each others' strengths and weaknesses.

12. I hope at least some of y'all will stop your diets and get ice cream at 9 p.m. with me from time to time.

13. I hope we share laughs that make us cry, and conversations that challenge each of us.

There is something so beautiful about the thought of spending my nights watching "She's the Man" for the 624,822 time with you ladies, and watching the Bachelor together as if it were the Superbowl every Monday night. I can't wait to listen to you question about whether your response to the hot boy is clever enough; and I promise I will never get tired of hearing y'all talk about how attractive the kid in your Chemistry class is. I promise to love you unconditional even if you forget to take out the trash. However, most importantly, I promise to be there for life's biggest moments with you, and have dance parties to celebrate the good, and Ben and Jerry's to eat when we cry about the bad.

I hope we make many memories, have many adventures, and continue to push each other to be better friends and sisters. I can't wait for this August and to walk alongside with y'all through the craziness of college.

Lets do this thing froomies.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
