First of all, no.

An Open Letter To The Guys Who Think I Love Sports Just To Impress Them
Emily Henrichs

Hello! I'm glad you opened this because I want you to know that I watch sports for MY enjoyment. I yell at sports not to impress you but because I am passionate about the game. I talk trash because I will back my team no matter what and I am truly competitive. I hope you stick around to read more of how I feel on this subject!

First of all, I was young when I started watching sports. I thought boys were gross and had cooties. I must ask, do you think I would be doing something that girls supposedly shouldn't like at a young age when boys were still gross to me. No, I don't think so. Anyways, I found interest in sports because of how compelling the games were. Games always had the ability to draw me in. I was constantly at the edge of my seat. I had my face in my hands from the stress of some games. And I was yelling louder than most people would think.

I found interest in sports because of the energy, not the guys.

I loved how fast paced some games were. I could sit in the stands or on my living room couch yelling for hours. I can do that without ever thinking of you. Wow, shocking.

I must ask, why do guys think girls watch sports solely to impress them? I would love to know. Girls can also take interest in sports for themselves. It is not all about you, guys. Have you not seen how powerful women are in sports? So, is it really surprising that young women enjoy watching sports? Personally, I don't think so.

On another note, why do you care so much about why girls like sports and in other cases think it's "hot" when a girl enjoys watching or playing? Honestly, all you're doing is stereotyping groups of girls. Let me put it like this. If a girl who seems to be more tomboyish, she actually likes them. She's not trying to impress you or anything. If a girl who is more on the girly side and she likes sports, she HAS to be impressing you with all the knowledge she has on the games, the teams, the players, etcetera.

So men, or I guess boys, girls can like sports for their own pleasure. Girls can enjoy getting into a football game, baseball game, hockey game, basketball game, whatever it may be. We are not doing it to impress you. We don't need you to explain the game to them. We know what's happening. We know the rules. In fact, sometimes we are explaining the rules to others, guys and girls.

Stop making it all about you.

Girls are allowed to enjoy and play sports. Girls are allowed to talk about sports. We are sick and tired of you telling us we only like sports so we can impress you. We have much better things to spend our time on.

Us women have the right to like sports without you telling us some bizarre reason that is all about you for why we enjoy the games. I'm here to tell you, the next time you tell a young woman or women in general that she can't possibly like sports because that's what guys like, you better apologize right then and there.

Sincerely,

The Girl Who Loves Sports

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
