Things she should know

Open Letter To My Future Girlfriend

Dear Future Girlfriend,

Being in college, I've been exposed to many vices over the past four years. Not to say I indulged in every single one of them, but I had my fair share. With that and college, I have as a grown person. In this growth, there are a few things I feel I should thank you for because, despite these things, you still decided to stay. So, here goes.

Thank you for accepting my bluntness.

It's been said I have no filter. I say my insults at the same time as my compliments. I never hide my insults or opinions about anything or anyone for anyone. There is a time and place for everything but I never went by those standards. If I did, I don't think I would have hooked a girl like you!

Thank you for being quirky with me.

Yes, we've both been called weird or peculiar. But not weird of the same kind. We are quirky in our own ways and that is what makes us unique individually. We don't halt our weirdness in front of each other nor others. I hope we continue to be weird and quirky in our time together.

Thank you for being a foodie!

I enjoy exploring new spots to eat, new ventures to scope out and you being my fellow foodie only brings good vibes to the atmosphere. Thank you for not judging me when I shove donuts down my throat. Thank you for stuffing your face as well with no shame.

Thank for the adventures.

I never wanted a normal relationship. I've never had a normal relationship. Every time we hang out or go somewhere, you've taken me on an adventure. Through those adventures, I get to know more about you; who you are, what you like, what makes you feel alive. Thank you for showing me how to enjoy the rawness of our emotions.

Thank you for your friendship.

I know I'm not the easiest person to deal with, and I can't imagine how hard it was for me to even ask you out. But through friendship and through relationship, you have been there. Being supportive, lending a hand, reassuring me in troublesome times. You were genuine. You never hid the truth or sugar coated life, you gave it to me raw. Thank you for that.

Through our relationship, you got me to open up, little by little. You taught me how to love. I hope I am everything you hoped for, in a narcissism-based, blunt, quirky adventurer.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
