First of all, I feel like I need to thank you. When I first came to college, it was a scary thing for me, even though I really tried not to show it. I didn’t know anyone and no one knew me, and in a way it was like a clean slate for me. At the same time, though, it can be hard to come to a new place and not have anyone to talk to.
Thank you for going out of your way to make each and every girl on our hall feel welcome. I know that wasn’t easy. There were 26 of us and only one of you. The fact that you had a full load of classes and still tried to get to know each one of us individually meant a lot. You wanted us all to be a big family, and even though it may not have ended up that way, I appreciate the effort.
Thank you for planning so many socials. I know they’re a pain, sometimes, and it probably really sucks when only one or two people show up when you’ve planned a social. You always made an effort to make us all feel comfortable with coming to hang out with everyone, even if some of us were major introverts.
Thank you for checking on me to see how I’m doing. I know that you are aware of how stressful college can be, at times. Balancing school with friends and work is a chore, so thank you for checking to make sure that I am doing OK with juggling everything in my busy life.
Thank you for introducing me to new people. Making new friends can be pretty intimidating sometimes, so thank you for introducing me to some of your friends and helping me branch out a little bit.
Thank you for listening. You have no idea how much you’ve helped me this year just by listening to me. Whether I’m ranting about work, my roommate, or even my hall mates; you were always there to listen to my rants and my complaining.
Thank you for your advice. Whether it was a roommate problem, a school problem, or a friend problem, you always seemed to know what to say. I know you’ve been doing this whole college thing a little longer than I have, so I appreciate the guidance.
Thank you for being my friend. I know that being your residents’ friend isn’t exactly a part of your job description, but you genuinely accepted me for who I am and welcomed me into your group of friends. Thanks for all the midnight movies and all the times we laughed until we cried because we were all sleep deprived.
I am so lucky to have called you as my RA this year, and I’m sad to know the year is drawing to a close and we won’t see each other every day. You’ve truly made my freshman year a great one, and I know you’ll do great things in the very near future. I know you won’t be an RA next semester, but I have no doubt that we will continue to be friends.
Thanks for being an awesome RA.
Love,
Your resident.
