An Open Letter To THAT Driver

I want to talk to you about what you've done.

Hey,

You’re that driver. And I want to talk to you about what you’ve done.

You probably didn’t realize what an impact your actions had on me. I noticed your driving behind me. It was different from any other driving that I had seen.

I just want to say one thing to you: you inspired me. The way you would let so many other people into your lane by leaving a large gap between us moved me. I’m sure you had somewhere to go, people to see, things to do, but you weren’t just thinking about yourself.

You cared about the other people who also had something to do. You put others before yourself. Letting so many people in front of you along the traffic-filled 5 mile stretch of road may have slowed you down, but that wasn’t what was important to you.

Thank you for showing me what it means to love everyone, even strangers, even the people who may try to cut you off. Thank you for driving safely and lovingly. You may not know that this seemingly small gesture makes a difference, but I just wanted to let you know that it does.

Your kind acts inspire me and others to lay off the road rage and consider the other drivers who may also be in a rush. You reminded me that I’ll get where I am going, in time, but I can also help other people get to where they are going, too.

Thank you for showing me the power of patience.

Thank you,

A fellow driver

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
