Once upon a time, there was a boy who had much to learn in his life. He was very smart and young, but so very naïve in his ways. In adolescent years, priorities are different and people aren’t seen in the same light as they should be. Friday night seems to be the most important issue at hand, and the girls throw themselves at you. There are important milestones to reach: prom, homecoming and graduation. These things may seem like they are of the utmost importance, and that nothing is more valuable than these experiences. High school seems like the biggest thing that will ever happen, but it is far from it. There are so many new and exciting things to learn and see. There is too much in the world outside to stay in your comfort zone.
You may think that girls are just company to keep, but one day that girl will become a woman and she’s going to need a man. You need to learn acceptance, forgiveness and consideration. So many times in your young adult life will you meet people who are not quality friends. So many times will you meet girls with the wrong intentions. Learning to respect people and to respect yourself will be a hard lesson to learn, but it will make you a better people at the end of the day.
To the boy who became the man everyone was waiting to know, congratulations. You’ve passed go, you’ve collected the $200 prize, but what do you do now? Now that you’ve learned so many new lessons and skills, how will you put them to good use? Will you become the father and husband that you’ve set out to be? Will you make something of yourself, or will you become a different person completely? Now that you’ve grown up, people are depending on you for advice, friendship, and most importantly love. There’s someone out there who loves you more than anything else in this world, so it’s now your job to do the same. Times will get tough, but that’s what growing up is all about.
To the boy who became a man, I am proud. You’ve proven yourself to stay on the right path in life (If there even is a right path). You’ve made your parents proud by accomplishing so much in such a little amount of time. You’ve made your friends proud by showing that you are a loyal and considerate friend. You’ve made me proud by showing me what it’s truly like to love someone. No longer can you look back and dwell on the past, because your future is so so very bright
