An Open Letter To My BGF (Best Guy Friend)
Marais Davis

Dear Bestie,

I just want to start out by saying thank you. You have done so much for me in the years we’ve been friends, and we have come such a long way. We’ve been through thick and thin together, and even though many friends have come and gone, you’re a constant in my life. You're the brother I never knew I wanted.

You’ve been my go-to date for quite a while now. Whether it just be getting Mexican food because I’m craving it or going to see a new movie that looks good, I know I can call you up to go with me. Yeah, people might mistake us for a couple, but whatevs.

On the other hand, you’re also my go-to bro. I know I can talk sports with you, (until my team beats yours, then it’s better to let you cool down). You introduce me to your new friends as one of the guys, but I know you’d talk me up to them if I’m interested. I have the best of both worlds with you.

I also want to thank you for always being 100 percent honest with me. Not all female friends do that, because they are afraid of hurting feelings or things being taken too personally. But you never fail to tell me like it is, and I need that brutal honesty in my life. That being said, your advice is always out of love. You are constantly looking out for me.

Going off of that, you give the best guy advice. Somehow you always know whether things will work out with a guy before I do. You have a pretty good idea of what his real intentions are, and you always warn me if he’s a d-bag in disguise. You have saved me from a lot of relationships that were bound to crash and burn.

Despite your constant warnings and interventions, my stubborn self always has to learn the hard way. And when I do, you’re my (I apologize for the cliché) shoulder to cry on. You tell me what an a**hole he was, and how I deserve better, and I love you for that.

My parents trust you more than they trust me. If they know I’m with you, they have no worries. (Although I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing…)

I am always happy when I’m around you. You make me laugh until I pee myself (literally), then proceed to tell that story whenever the opportunity arises. I really could not imagine my life without you in it. We have been through it all, and I know I can tell you anything without (that much) judgement. I know no matter how far school or life pulls us apart, we’ll remain close somehow. You're my bro, my boo, and most importantly, my BFF.

Love,

Your favorite, somewhat annoying, BFF

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
