You don't have to do it to look like a model. You have to do it for yourself.

An Open Letter to Anyone Who Loves to Hate Working Out

I never understood why running was a hobby that some people have. The pain in your chest and cramps in your sides have never really been worth it to me. But then I decided that I wanted to have a healthier lifestyle. Instead of giving up my favorite foods like pizza and Chipotle, I decided to start running to get into better shape for summer. So I put on some Rihanna and ran around my block. My lungs hurt, my heart was racing, I was so sweaty. But then I realized I just did something awesome, and I run 3 or 4 times a week now.

You want to be fit and healthy, but motivation is hard to find. You need to be committed to starting working out, keep going, and finish. Sure, you could tell yourself you will start working out tomorrow. You could put on another episode of you favorite show. But if you're serious about getting in shape, you'll find motivation.

But make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. Losing weight to impress others is not healthy. You don't have to do it to look like a model, you have to do it for yourself. You should want to exercise because it will make you look and feel better. When you put on your sneakers just keep this in mind. you are sweating and hurting now, and you will be sore later. You aren't going to lose a pound by tomorrow, but you still accomplished something awesome. Hopefully, that will make you want to kill that workout. Run faster. Push harder.

So when you're at the gym, sweat pouring and heart racing, keep going. Go hard even though you really wanted to quit 5 minutes in. It sucks, but you still do it. Keep telling yourself that you got this and if you keep going next time will be easier. When you are done and your muscles are super sore and don't even want to move, you'll feel good. You feel like you've achieved something. The best part about it was, you did it for no one other than yourself.

The feeling of you being out of breath but smiling through it because you didn't sit on the couch watching tv is really rewarding. You are closer to your goal now because of it. And you'll remember that feeling next time. You did it once it sucked and felt great at the same time. You'll work even harder and when it's done feel even better than the last time. Soon enough you'll see results and it will be so addicting. It’s an awesome cycle, all you have to do is start right now.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
