A short background on vaccines: One of the world's greatest achievements in public health according to most people is the invention of vaccinations but yet, as soon as we discovered vaccinations there were always people opposed to it.
As more and more uneducated people decided against vaccines, the government developed mandatory vaccine policies. This caused a rise in tension throughout the community especially as vaccination skeptics started coming up with their theories on vaccines such as they were unchristian, not safe, and came from decaying matter in the atmosphere.
As time went on and vaccines got better, an article by Dr. AJ Wakefield, published in 1998 linking vaccines to autism. This caused a public outroar throughout the community and caused the anti-vaxxer community to strengthen. This article is what the anti-vaxxers base their knowledge around when in reality, Dr. AJ Wakefield had his medical license taken away and this article was retracted.
Dear Anti-Vaxxers:
Throughout my research, I have tried to understand both sides of the vaccine debate but no matter how far into it I look, all I can find is educated information that is pro-vaccination and uneducated information that is against vaccinations. Most of you base all of your knowledge from a man who has quickly discredited years ago and has since had his medical licence taken away. Other doctors who do have their license disagree with this doctor greatly and even have proof to back it up.
Because of anti-vaxxers the measles, which was once eradicated, has begun coming back and is killing children again. Please vaccinate your children there is no plausible evidence that being vaccinated causes autism.
Vaccinations are actually helping to keep the community safe and when you refuse to vaccinate your child you are not only making the decision for your child but every child that your kid comes in contact with. Even if a parent chooses to vaccinate their child, they are not fully safe until you have vaccinated yours too. If only 10% of a community neglect to be vaccinated that puts the entire community endanger of contracting a deadly disease like the measles.
If these anti-vaxxers continue, not only could children get sick but the disease could mutate into different strands that are not treatable by the vaccines that we have which endangers everyone out there until another vaccine is formed which no one knows how long that could take. How about instead of putting your whole community and your child in danger, vaccinate your child and get over it. Please do your research and have facts that are actually supported by proof.
