Open If: You're Struggling With Self-Confidence

The answer to this: Jesus.

It seems like everywhere I look, someone is bashing themselves by saying, "I'm not smart enough," "I'm not pretty enough," or "I'm not skinny enough." Heck, even I've said these three phrases to myself more than once.

In order to cope with these, maybe you've turned to partying, alcohol, or self-harm. They may have worked in the short term, but how are they working out now? Do you feel any better about yourself? Really ask yourself that question. If your answer is yes, then you can stop reading here. If you answer is no, ask yourself this next question:

What is your intention in saying these things or doing these things to yourself?

Do we think that by saying these words or doing these things will actually make us "prettier," "skinnier," or "smarter?" Or, will they just take our self-confidence from a 100 to a 0? Odds are, it's probably the latter.

7 in 10 girls believe that they are not good enough or don’t measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with friends and family members.

The above statistic shows that a whopping 70% of girls feel they are inadequate. This is absolutely crazy, but it doesn't have to be this way.

Do you want to know why? Because there is a man who reigns over all the world. He has made the blind see and the lame walk. He created sunsets, puppies, and rainbow sprinkles. And this same man created you to be beautiful and perfect in HIS image. His name is Jesus.

Just you living, breathing, walking, and laughing has pleased him. You don't have to get straight A's, weigh XX pounds or have the hottest boyfriend. You just have to be you and use your talents to serve His name.

So, why bash something so perfect and beautiful?

Song of Solomon 4:7 says, "You are altogether beautiful, my darling. Beautiful in every way."

So, if you are one of the millions of women who struggle with self-confidence, know that you are not alone and that there is a way out. The way out is through Jesus. Open your Bible, fall to your knees, and pray. Jesus answers prayer in ways you could never believe possible. And know that you can do this! I believe in you, and I am praying for you!

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
