You may think that virtually knocking Trump around is just nothing but time-wasting fun, but by playing online games such as 'Punch The Trump' and 'Hair Nah', you are participating in a type of activism. Games such as these are making statements that influence its players to question certain things in society. They come off as humorous and many creators of these entertaining pastimes tell the world to not take their games too seriously, but their games are sending messages to society and the government.
The online game, Punch The Trump, was developed by Brutal Studio. In this game, you are able to punch Donald Trump around until he is unconscious and falls to the floor. Below the game, there is a description. In the description, it states, "Are you annoyed with what Trump is doing during his presidency? Do you want to shut him up? ...Step into the boxing ring and punch the Trump!"
You can immediately tell just from reading the description, that this game is meant for you to be able to release any anger you have towards Trump, in a way without actually physically resorting to violence. The game is a little graphic. After punching Trump a few times he starts to bleed, and his features become swollen, which makes this game not suitable for young children. This game addresses the fact that a large amount of the American population has at least one issue with him. If he ever comes across this game, it should be a big wake up call for him.
Then again, this is Donald Trump we're talking about.
The next online game called Hair Nah may not make a political statement, but it does bring light to an issue Black women face pretty much on a daily basis. According to CNN, the game's creator, Momo Pixel, explained that she created the game after she was "tired of people making unwanted touches of her hair."
I feel as though the constant unwanted touching of Black women's hair can not only make us uncomfortable but also make us feel as though we are just strange objects with hair that can be different from what some people are used to seeing. In this game, you are able to create your own avatar that matches your skin complexion and hairstyle. Once you have your avatar, you play the game by smacking hands that are trying to touch your hair out of the way.
This game addresses the way some people of this society are still viewing Black women. Hopefully, the "hair touchers" of the world will come across this game, so they can understand how Black women feel about this.
