One Of The Best Feelings In The World
Jessi White

One of the best feelings is being able to see your friends and family after a long time! It's like having Christmas early! It's the best thing I get to do when I'm home from college. Seeing everyone when I get home feels like I haven't seen them in years, even though it's only been three in a half months. Time flies by, but when your far away from home, it feels like a life time. I love learning and attending college, but when I get the chance to come home, it's the best feeling in the world. It can't get any better than that!

Since I attend college five hours from home, I rarely get to go home. I go home during winter and summer break. It might seem like a long time to have off, but it goes by fast. You feel like you don't always get to do all of the things you wanted with your loved ones. I always try to visit all of my friends during break because I'm not sure when I'll be able to see them during that time period. I also always try to plan fun things to do before I head back to college. I love to travel long distances, but then that's the time I miss my family.

Every time I come home I give everyone huge bear hugs! I love that feeling when they hug you back like they've missed you for a lifetime. I often write letters to my family and friends back home to see how they're doing, because when you text you can't say everything you would like to. I always enjoy getting letters from my loved ones, it's a sign that they miss me, but is also proud of me for going to get my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood/Special Education. I'm going after my dreams and goals, especially with my mom, dad, my sister Angel, and my best friends Kim and Jamie. I don't think I would be here if they didn't constantly encourage and believe in me every step of the way!

When you have people who care and support you with what you want to do, it makes a great impact on your life. I have set goals for myself and I'm reaching them every day with the people who matter to me the most. It's hard being away from home, and from time to time I do get homesick. It's natural to feel like that, especially being five hours away. I remind myself why I'm at college, because I want to make a difference in a child's life. I also promised a loved one I would get a Bachelors Degree in college (my dad).

It is hard not seeing my family and friends everyday, but the feeling coming home makes up the difference. I love to see the smiles and laughs when I come home to see everyone! I couldn't ask for a better family or friends. I love each and everyone of you guys and I hope I make all of you guys smile and feel loved even when I'm not home:) Always cherish the time you have with your family and friends!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
