One Month At MSU

One month here has come and gone!

One Month At MSU

As of today September 12th, I have officially been at Mississippi State for one month. It's been fun at times and nerve-wracking at others. It's also been a time of self-learning and discovery. It's hard to believe one month has already come and gone. Here's what has happened since then.

Week 1: Move-in Day and New Maroon Camp

Move in day was hectic, to say the least. How did I end up packing so much stuff? Where will all of it go in my dorm? Why is 3 pm move in a thing? How long will it take to get everything situated? Where did this rain come from? All the questions going through my head that day.
After the hectic move-in day came New Maroon Camp. The best time ever, I wish it would have never ended but am so glad I decided to go. If you want to hear more about why I loved New Maroon camp click here.

Week 2: Dawg Days and Syllabus Week

The days leading up to class starting were fun. I went to on-campus events with friends and had a nice carefree time. The same was true for the first three days of classes(Wednesday-Friday) or "syllabus week".

Weeks 3-4: First Full Weeks, Realizations, Interviews, and First Football Game

The first full week of classes. Things got real. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I only take one class, which has its pros and cons let me say! It was very easy to be like oh I can sleep in go to class for fifty minutes and then do whatever. Wrong!! That was so wrong and it definitely became clear in the 2nd full week of class. I have adjusted my Tuesday/Thursday routine and use them to get most reading assignments out of the way and to get ahead before another Monday or Wednesday filled with 4 classes!

Interviews with different organizations happened too. Did I get into everything I wanted? No. I did, however, get into some. What I think can be a big takeaway from rejections is that just because you do not make something you wanted to does not mean that something is wrong with you. Who knows you could end up being apart of that organization next year? But that is something you will never know if you don't decide to put yourself out there and try again.

MSU's first football game was September 1st against Stephen F. Austin. We won and I had a great time at my first ever MSU football game. It rained, it poured, and MSU definitely scored!! 63-6. I am so excited for the next game and making even more memories in Davis Wade Stadium

Week 5: The Week Before Test Week

Now it is the week before the tests begin. I have spent a lot of time studying and getting up early you get even more stuff done each day. I have planned out my days to the tee, but hey it is how I get stuff done. Do what you have to because nobody is here at college to do it for you!
In short, it has been an eventful month. Can't wait to learn and grow more in the next few months here at MSU

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
