When I first joined Odyssey, I did it for the writing. I really love to write, and to get my work published is even more amazing. I very much enjoy writing for Odyssey, as I made it an online journal for myself. It's free writing for me, yet my work gets published for the entire world to see.

I've been inspired by many people and events in my life to write ever since high school. Being a writer and editor for my high school's award winning online newspaper taught me a lot. I learned how to correctly write, learned about current events, and behind the scenes of what goes on during publishing of an article or video. It is really cool to see this process, and how hard it actually is.

When I was a freshman at the University of Delaware, I stopped writing all together. Until the beginning of my sophomore year, I didn't realize how much I missed writing, and how great it makes me feel. I began to realize that I wanted to go into the field of communications. My passion for writing is very strong, and I love to help others create their own great works of literature including articles and essays.

The one thing I enjoy just as much as writing, if not more, is food: eating it, writing about it, watching it, and learning how to make different variations of meals and snacks is one of my favorite activities.

At around the same time I joined Odyssey, I also became a member of the Spoon University chapter at the University of Delaware for this exact reason. The main corporation of Spoon University is located in New York City and is basically a community of young adults who take joy in forming the future of food.

I feel that I fit perfectly in this description of food. I became more knowledgeable in the process of writing after I joined SpoonU. I additionally acquired a lot of skill in making different recipes I have always put off to the side because I was too caught up in either my school work or my social life that I didn't have time or a desire to learn how to make food in its entirety. I now write articles about restaurants, give reviews, recipes, and more.

As this semester was coming to a close, I really began to think about what type of food writing I get the most excited about and want to do as I am looking for my first internship and job. My first dream internship as of now is commuting and working for SpoonU in New York City over the summer.

As I grow older and graduate college, I hope to be a publicist for a major health and wellness magazine. I have a huge heart for nutrition, and thus would love to write and educate young adults on diets, training, working out, healthy foods, and more.

I feel as if my growing passion for this subject really paves my way for future enjoyment and success in the real world. On my path to success, I will only stay positive and strive hard for my future goals. I know I will be able to achieve anything if I keep focused and determined.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
