We are currently in the middle of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games being held in PyeongChang, South Korea. There have already been amazing things happening in the games and it is all so exciting and thrilling to watch. The Olympics truly are the best sporting event in the world. It is one of the only times an entire country can come together and cheer for the same team. It represents a huge sense of nationalism that everyone experiences throughout the course of the Olympic Games.

There are so many sports that go on throughout the world whether that's football, baseball, golf, soccer, cricket or basketball. The Olympics bring together many sports that all go on at the same time. It brings out the best athletes from all over the world to see who truly is the best in the sport, and it shows them off on one of the biggest worldwide platforms. The Olympics can do some amazing things. For example, in this year's Olympic Games South Korea and North Korea marched under the same flag in the opening ceremonies. This happened despite the constant tensions between both nations.

The Olympics give everyone a chance because amazing things can happen at any time. The front-runner could go out and do something absolutely amazing and win the gold, or someone could go from being a no-name to someone whose name everyone knows. There is always history being made during competitions, whether it is someone throwing down a trick that no one has ever completed in competition or someone breaking an Olympic/world record that has stood for decades. Nothing is out of reach and there should be no limit set at what is possible.

To host the Olympics brings great honor to the country who wins the bid to host it. After a country wins the bid, the preparation for the games begins almost immediately even though many are 10 years away from coming there. The host country wants to show off the best they have to offer and build the most extravagant stadiums.

Also, the opening and closing ceremonies will allow the host country to walk the world through their history and culture. It will offer many opportunities to teach the rest of the world about their home that many didn't know. They are always huge and beautiful with real meaning behind every act. Hosting the Olympics is one of the most honorable things that can be granted to a city.

The Olympics are truly the best sporting event because it is the largest sporting event in the world and the entire world watches and cheers for their fellow countrymen to go for gold. Athletes train for four years just for one opportunity to show off to the world how they have gotten better and to explode onto the scene. This only occurs in the Olympics. It gives everyone an opportunity to become the next big thing and the next athlete to be the face of a sport for years to come. All of this magic can only happen in one sporting event and that sporting event is...the Olympics.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
