Shows being rebooted can be a good or a bad thing

Have you ever watched a show that has ended, but you want it to keep going? Or maybe have them remake the show in someway?

Honestly, that's me with every show that I have ever watched. With shows now being rebooted such as; "That's So Raven" - "Raven's Home", "Full House" - "Fuller House", "Kim Possible", "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" - "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" (only available on Netflix), "One Day at a Time", "Boy Meets World" - "Girl Meets World", and more. However, the one show that I was never expecting to be rebooted, but was "Charmed".

"Charmed" was a show that I got into while I was in maybe middle/high school. It ran from 1996 to 2006 while the new one came out this year. Between both there are similarities and differences and both of which correspond with each other. Examples of both are; the upbringing of the sister, their powers, the book of shadows, and the story lines. However, the story lines are more different then they are similar.

Confusing right? I know, but let me explain, starting with the old leading into the new…

The original is about three sister; Prue, Piper, and Phoebe, who all have grown up being raised by their grandmother, their mother died when they were young. Growing up they didn't get along at all, Prue and Piper were closer and Phoebe was left in the dark in a way. Phoebe ended up moving to New York. The first episode starts with Phoebe coming back to live with her sister. It's because of her that they become known as the Charmed Ones.

Moving forward, during the third season Prue, the oldest, is killed. With her gone, Piper and Phoebe didn't know how to move forward as the Charmed Ones. Soon after, they learn about a sister they didn't know about. Paige is the sister they never knew, she was raised by her adoptive parents who were killed by a car accident, she never understood why she survived, later they all learn that the Power of 3 is restored with Paige entering their lives.

When it comes to their powers; Prue whos an appraiser for an auction house, then becomes a professional photographer for a magazine. She has the power of telekinesis- moving objects with her mind and astral projection- allowing her to be in two places at once. Piper whos a chief and manager at the restaurant Quake, but then soon becomes the owner and manager of the nightclub P3. Her powers include freezing and unfreezing time she can also make the demons and other objects to explode.

Phoebe is an advice columnist for the newspaper company The Bay Minor, after being in college for awhile. Her powers include premonitions of the past and the future. She also gains the powers of levitation and empathy as the show goes on. Paige who was working at South Bay Social Services and later become a teacher at the school of magic. Her powers are; telekinetic orbing, orb shield, and healing. She is the result have being have witch and half whitelighter.

With the help of their own Whitelighter, Leo, they are able to grow together as witches but more importantly as sisters. Leo falls in love with Piper, which was forbidden, but they made it work. They also get the help of past witches such as their grams and mother.

With the newer show their are the differences of the sisters being raised separate, their powers, the whitelighter and their individual lives. The show starts with two sisters, Mel and Maggie. They are raised together, however their mother is the one raising them. Mel is a teaching assistant at the local college. Maggie is a Freshmen at the college, she is the modern teen, trying to fit in all while being a witch she is trying to be in the sorority. Like the original Mel and Maggie have a half-sister they didn't know about, Macy. Macy comes into town because of a new job, she is a lab supervisor (scientist).

The powers are very similar, in a way, to the original. Like Piper, Mel has the power of freezing and unfreezing time. Maggie has the power of reading minds, a little different from what Phoebe had, but like Phoebe the power is activated by touching somebody. With Macy she is the combination of both Prue and Paige. Like Prue she has the power of telekinesis (moving objects and people with her mind). Like the original they to have their own whitelighter, Harry.

Their relationship with Harry is strictly family there is no romance between either of them. Unlike Leo, Harry doesn't remember anything about his time before being a whitelighter. The storylines are similar with them trying to get a handle on their powers and their lives altogether.

Some big differences are that the demons don't automatically disappear after being vanquished, the elders are more about helping themselves than anything else. Also, unlike Prue, Piper, Phoebe and Paige; Macy, Mel and Maggie got a choice about being a witch. They were given the information about who they really are, but they were told they got a choice to become the Charmed ones, but they wouldn't remember anything about being witches or meeting Macy.

I will be honest, I was skeptical about watching the show, but I did end up checking it out and I fell in love with it. I love how they mashed both together in some ways but allowed it to have it's own personality. Each show has its own personality to match the time they were/are running so they could connect more with their audience. I do recommend the show whether it be the original or new. It is a show worth watching.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
