It's Okay To Not Have Everything Figured Out Just Yet

Oftentimes in college, we feel pressure to be smarter, be better, be more. It is okay to not be any of those things.

College is one of those pivotal moments in any teenager's life.

It is the first time in your life you have the most freedom. For the first time, you get to make your own choices like where you go to school, where you live, what you want to study and who you want to become. All of this can be super exciting but also terrifying. Every which way you look, someone is expecting you to have every question answered when in reality, you have no idea what you want and that is totally okay.

When you start college, you may start out having an exact idea of where you want and how you want the next four years or so to go.

However, the reality is you will change and you will evolve and the ideas of where you wanted to be as a freshman will be totally different by the time you get to the end of your college career. You will learn throughout college that things you were once interested in are not interesting to you anymore. You will enjoy new things you once may not have enjoyed.

Let yourself change and grow in college.

You will learn so much more about yourselves in these four years than you have your whole life. College is an amazing time to experience all that you can while you have the freedom to. You will meet so many different people from around the world. Learn all that can from these amazing people. Every day, you will want to have every question answered but the reality is sometimes you may not have any answers to every question. It's okay, no one is perfect despite us wanting to be. Just let yourself enjoy the crazy ride of college.

Never pass up the amazing opportunities college offers you.

In college, big opportunities will fall into your lap. Do not be afraid to seek these opportunities. Reach out of your comfort zone and try for these opportunities even if they seem nearly impossible. Opportunities like a new job or an internship will be on your mind. Never be afraid that you will not get these opportunities. If you never try to achieve these opportunities you will never know the outcome. Even if these turn out to be failures use that failure as motivation.

Failure in college is okay.

You will never be perfect no one is so therefore failure is okay. You are not going to pass every class with perfect A's. College is hard but do not stress. The college process is different for everyone and you will make it in the end.

The growth you will experience when you just let yourself relax and just enjoy every moment. Do not ever let anyone make you doubt the stage you are in life. Everyone will grow and change how they will and never let anyone decide where you go in life for you. You have the power to do whatever you can imagine.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
