To the college student wondering if they're on the right path, you are.
You may not feel like you're doing the right thing at the moment - you feel like you're taking classes that are a waste of time or not useful to the life you dream of living after graduation. Let me assure you that you can change your mind mid-way through your college life and still make it to your destination.
You may not get there at the time you want to, but that's okay. The most important part is that you never gave up and you put yourself first. You could have picked a major just to have something, thought you picked a degree that you thought you would genuinely enjoy, or you could have felt pressured by family members to fulfill their dreams that they never completed. Regardless of your situation, you put yourself first and that's all that matters. College is the time in a person's life where they have to stop living for others and live for themselves.
About a third of first-time college students choose a major and then change it at least once within three years, so you aren't alone. Changing your major doesn't make you indecisive or unsure about your life. Changing your major to something you actually picture yourself doing is ensuring your happiness in the long run. Don't let people make you feel bad for choosing happiness over settling.
I changed my major twice during my freshman year and then I just recently changed it after I had spent money on journalism textbooks and time taking classes that I wasn't enjoying. I'm okay and I'm still going to graduate. Don't let a fear of not completing college hold you back from doing what you've always wanted to do.
You'll be okay.
