I know roads can't talk but what if those old country backroads could speak? What would they say? What memories do they hold? Good ones? Bad ones? Love stories? What songs do they hear?
As a girl who lives in a small town with a bazillion back roads, I constantly wonder what those little back roads would say...
The roads that hear old country music coming out of old trucks and listening to high schoolers talk about life by a bonfire in a nearby field.
The roads that go for miles but never seem to end.
The roads that have seen many wrecks.
The roads that have helped a struggling girl find happiness by just driving down that long backroad with music blaring (You've been there, I'm sure).
The roads that have seen couples fall in love in the field nearby
The roads that have cows on either side of them.
The roads that hear old gospel songs blaring from cars on Sunday morning as people are heading to church.
The roads that hold many memories for many people.
As the song says, "Country roads take me home, to the place I belong..."
I feel that back roads would have a lot to say if they could talk, we'd have to grab a glass of sweet tea, sit back and just listen.
