October is a weird month. Half of me is full of joy because the fall weather has finally kicked in and spooky season is upon us. However, the other half of me knows that October is usually the hardest month of the school year.
The fall season is right when classes get difficult, you miss home, and suddenly you are just exhausted because sleep no longer fits into your busy schedule.
And with that exhaustion comes all the unhealthy habits.
I'm a coffee drinker to begin with, but when I'm tired I always tell myself that the best fix is to just drink more coffee. Plus, the weather is colder in October, so I'm always craving a warm cup of coffee in my hands. Before I know it I'm drinking three cups of coffee a day instead of the usual one. Obviously I could just go to bed earlier so that I felt less exhausted, but coffee just seems like the easier option.
Unhealthy eating habits also start back up, because who can drink a cup of coffee without a sweet? Muffins, cupcakes, ice cream, you name it. I will definitely be eating more sweets and more pizza in October than in any other month of the school year.
Working out is no longer a possibility. Because you're exhausted and your schedule is already busy enough, going to the gym every day is no longer a priority. This might not be an issue if it weren't for the bad eating habits that also come with October.
Altogether, October is a wonderfully spooky month, but it's also the best time of year for your typical, healthy lifestyle to fall apart. Don't lose confidence though, you can always get yourself back on track in November.
