You know why you did it.
No better than the rest
All of you
Floating, barely,
In your father's ocean.
Some of you on deserted islands
In paradisal bliss
While you spear out
The ocean non-worshippers
Who dislike the waves
Which once thrashed them about.
Some of you drown under waves
Tall as sky lights.
You let baggage pull you under
You fear losing the treasure
Sea life once gave you.
Some still drift in boats searching
For the magic they say exists at sea.
Adrift for all eternity.
Then there's the monster
Underneath the waves.
Worse than Ahab
Because she wants to kill
The ocean itself.
She chews up ships
Crushes bones under her muscles
She repeatedly reminds everyone
What lies out past the shores.
If you go out to sea,
Know she's out there too
She's waiting for mortals
As stupid to believe the legends
Like you.
